New Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D Trailer Shows Off The Cast
Check out the who’s-whos of which Resident Evil fan-fave characters are making the list for Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, coming in June.
The Resident Evil series from Capcom is getting ready for its very first outbreak on the Nintendo 3DS, with the slow approaching June 28th North American release of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. Choosing fast skilled action over the traditional plot-driven setup, Mercenaries 3D is a completely different Resident Evil experience where you race against the clock and try to shoot down as many infected as possible.
Gamers who’ve already faced and beaten the endless onslaught of zombie-like creatures in both Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, might instantly recognize the scenario above as the unlockable Mercenaries missions from both those games. Here, they’ve all been re-done to take advantage of the Nintendo 3DS in one very solid package that is filled with tons of new cool content and features.
Some of the new features in Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D include the option of your shooting sight. You can either choose an option of aiming from a first-person viewpoint to shoot down you’re enemies — or if you’re a Resident Evil 4/5 purist, the traditional over-the-shoulder style. One new addition that I’m pretty sure will get a lot of applause, is finally the ability to move while firing and reloading weapons.
The act of “shooting while moving” might seem like a no-biggie addition that shouldn’t even be worth mentioning, but it’s kinda the surprising fact that a standard convention in most third-person shooters we love to play today, is only now being added to such a long-running, popular series — is a premise that is all too kooky.
Although, we thank Capcom for finally making its way to the 21st century and discovering all of its lush marvels. You better be taking notes the rest of the Japanese gaming industry!
Back on track though, Mercenaries 3D will also have co-op play thanks to the Nintendo 3DS’s Wi-Fi connectivity — a feature that you’ll be able to arrange team-based matches with anyone else in the world. Oh but that’s not all, because you be able to take part in all of the Mercenaries 3D festivities with fan-favorite characters from across the Resident Evil universe.
I’ll let Capcom do all the honors with announcing who you’ll be able to take into battle with this trailer they just released — take a look.
