Amazing Mario Mural in Deep South Texas
If you ever travel to a place in deep south Texas called Weslaco, you may find this very cool Mario-themed mural.
This awesome piece of art happens to be painted along the walls of a TV repair shop. It looks to be somehwhat of a mash-up of Mario games, but for the most part features themes from Super Mario Bros. 3. We do see Wario and some stuff that looks like it was taken from Super Mario World. There’s Mario in a raccoon costume, Wario punching something, Spineys, Bullet Bill, Goombas and Koopas.
We kind of wish we could have this sort of thing in our room, but that isn’t likely without a lot of time and a lot of paint. To think about all the colors one would have to use makes us fear the burden on our bank account. At least it’s nice to look at.
It’s amazing to think that the series has grown so popular that a regular shop in a small town can have something so cool painted onto its side. It’s even better to know that people put their artistic skills to use in a positive way, since the mural definitely doesn’t seem unwelcome.
Though the characters may not look 100 percent official, they are very well-done. We don’t know how Nintendo would feel about it, but it would be nice to think that they could look at this and say, “Wow, it’s really awesome that someone enjoys our characters enough to paint this on the side of their building.” Unfortunately, that’s likely not the case.
Maybe one day we will have the time and the budget to buy several cans of paint and give the room an extra cool makeover. For now, all we can do is sit back and enjoy these pictures.
We love looking at Nintendo-related art. That’s especially true when it comes to the Mario characters. The colors and the designs are some of the best around, which probably has a lot to do with the series’ longevity. Check out this Luigi doll, or a giant Lego DSi made up of over 51,000 pieces.
